The crown assembled for the Davis Sunset Rotary Club’s viewing on Cars 3 at Central Park on Saturday, September 8th, was modest, but engaged. After auditions, about half of this year’s company surprised movie-goers with an improv piece to Brad Paisley’s “Truckaroo” from the movie’s soundtrack. New company members Karen Block, Padyn denDulk, and Lila Boutin joined seasoned dancers Leela Ghassemi and Michele Tobias in a twangy car-themed improv.
Performances like these are a part of PTDT’s Dance in Public Places program and supports our mission to redefine dance as an art form that is accessible to anyone. Our hope is that by bringing dance outside the traditional theater space, we can engage people in thinking about dance who might not otherwise have sought out the opportunity.
